Rules and Regulations

1.0 Tournament Specific Terms and Conditions

1.1 General

  • “TGC” Is the “Organizer” of this tournament. The Organizer appoints the Tournament Admins and staffs.
  • Participants must be available for all tournament dates they are involved in, including potential interviews for media and promotion.
  • The act of confirming for this tournament implies full acceptance of all terms, conditions, rules and regulations stated, in its entirety.
  • The Organizer reserves the right to modify the rules and format without notice, to protect the integrity and smooth flow of the tournament

1.2 Eligibility/ Roster

  • Players participating in this tournament need to be 13 years old of age or above. Players that are under the age of 18 will need to provide a consent form signed by their parent/guardian.
  • Teams Must Consist of a minimum of 5 team members plus 1 stand in will be allowed in this tournament.
  • All team members MUST have a valid Student ID, members must be students from their respective universities specific to the registered country qualifier
  • Any roster Changes must be communicated to the admin 4 days prior to the qualifier. Any request made after 4 days may be declined by the organiser.

1.3 Registrations

All Participants are to register their teams on Battlefy.com. All the qualifiers will be done through the Battlefy tournament platform.

2.0 Tournament Schedule & Rules

2.1 Player Check-in

Players are required to check-in 1 hour before game starts and be ready to join lobby games 15 minutes before the scheduled games

2.2. Tournament Schedule

All official tournament schedules will be posted on the official website and official communication channels.

 

If one team is not ready at the designated time, their opponent will be granted a default win by contacting an admin and having him check the lobby or via a dispute report (Online).

 

If both teams agree, they can delay for a maximum time limit of 10 minutes. However, after 10 minutes, whoever has the most players in their team will be granted a default win. Delay in games MUST BE notified to an admin.

 

To ensure the tournament is on schedule, teams may not wait for more than 20 minutes.

 

Time Penalties – Time Penalties will be given to latecomers. The following penalties will be applied:
— Being late for 5 minutes — warning + LVL1 draft penalty
— Being late for 10 minutes — warning + LVL2 draft penalty
— Being late for 15 minutes — warning + LVL3 draft penalty

2.3 Tournament Game modes

The Tournament will be played in “Captains Mode”

 

2.4 Tournament Format

2.4.1 University Qualifiers

A total of 5 University qualifiers will be played. All participating teams will be randomly seeded into a Single Elimination Bracket to play a best of 1, All Semi Final Games to play a bo3. The Top 2 teams of each qualifier will advance to “University Playoffs”.

(Game Formats may change depending on the number of participants. Tournament admins will notify teams before the start of the qualfiier)

2.4.2 University Playoffs

The Playoffs will be broken into two stages:

 

Group Stage

The 10 Qualified teams will be randomly seeded into 2 groups of 5. The team will play a 2 round Round Robin. Points will be tabulated and the top 2 teams of each group will enter the single elimination bracket

 

Group Stage

The 10 Qualified teams will be randomly seeded into 2 groups of 5. The team will play a 2 round Round Robin. Points will be tabulated and the top 2 teams of each group will enter the single elimination bracket

Playoff

The top 2 teams from each group (4 teams) will be seeded into a single elimination bracket. All games will be played a best of 3. The top 2 teams will advance to the “country finals”.

 

2.4.3 Country Finals

The qualified teams from the University Playoffs, 10 teams (2 from Malaysia, 2 teams from Singapore, 2 Teams from Thailand, 2 Teams from Indonesia, 2 teams from Philippines) participate in the country finals

 

Group Stage
Teams will be randomly seeded into 2 groups of 5. The team will play a 1 round, Round Robin. Points will be tabulated. The 2 teams will be seeded into a single elimination bracket

 

Single Elimination
The top 2 teams from each group (4 teams) will be seeded into a single elimination bracket. All games will be played a best of 3. The top 2 teams will advance to the “country finals”.

2.5 Tie Breakers

In the event of teams having the same points during the group stage, the following methods will be used to determine who proceeds to the next stage:

 

Head To Head Match up (2 team tied)
Teams that are tied will refer to their head to head result history. The winner of the matchup will advance to the next stage, however if there is more than 2 teams that are tied, a tiebreaker match-off will be played.

 

Tiebreaker Match-Off (more than 2 teams tied)
The tiebreaker teams will proceed to play against each other and have the scores tallied, with the most wins proceeding. In the event that the teams still have same score however:

 

Tiebreaker Match
The tied teams will play each other again until a winner is found.

3.0 Specific Game Rules

1. The software used is DOTA 2 (Steam version).

 

2. The Game Mode used is Captains Mode (CM), Tournament Version.

 

3. Games will be played on the SINGAPORE server.

 

4. The first team to destroy the opposing team’s ancient (main building) wins, or all players on a team intentionally disconnects.

 

5. Each person attending the tournament must have read and accept the rules and regulations. Ignoring it cannot be a reason put forward in case of an issue or dispute.

 

6. Dota tv’s delay must be set to a minimum of 5 minutes.

 

7. The usage of any Dota-related tool aside from Steam and Dota 2 during a match is strictly forbidden. Macros that combine more than 2 keystrokes are not allowed. Any use of such tools will result in immediate disqualification.

 

3.1 Side Choice

Choosing Side and Pick. Choosing Side or Pick is made by Automatic coin toss. (If the automatic coin toss does not work, we will manually pick the sides with the “/flip” command)

 

Best of 1
Coin Toss Winner chooses pick or side / opponent chooses from the remaining options.

 

Best of 2
Coin Toss Winner chooses pick or side / opponent chooses from the remaining options.

 

Best of 3
Map 1 – Coin Toss Winner chooses pick or side / opponent chooses from the remaining options.
Map 2 – Looser of map 1 will have side and pick priority
Map 3 – Looser of map 2 has side and pick priority

3.2 Match Reporting

  • Teams must report the results after each series to the tournament admins.
  • Both Teams are required to have screenshots of the end of match screens for verification purposes or if any dispute arises.

3.3 Stand-ins

  • Stand-ins cannot come into play in a series that has already begun.
  • The registered substitute player cannot be a part of any rosters of other registered teams that are participating in the tournament.
  • Should such a substitute player be found, the registration of the substitute player will be considered void and will not be able to act as a substitute for the team.
  • Teams must notify tournament admins if they have used their stand-in player.

3.4 Forfeits

  • Players are required to notify tournament admins if they decide to forfeit their match.
  • Forfeiting matches may be subjected to penalties by the organiser.

4.0 Player Conduct

Participants are expected to have the best behavior at all times. Unfair conducts may include, but are not limited to, hacking, game exploiting, tournament rigging, and intentional disconnects. Participants are expected to showcase good sportsmanship and fair play. Failure to comply with this rules will incur penalties to the individual and the participating teams.

5.0 PENALTIES AND DISQUALIFICATIONS

5.1 If any of the above rules, regulations, terms and/or conditions are broken/not met, tournament admins may apply penalties according to their judgment and discretion.

5.1.2 Penalties that can be applied are the following:

  • Warning
  • Time Draft Penalty
  • Default loss of round
  • Prize Money Deduction
  • Disqualification of a player/team from the entire tournament

5.2 ANY submission of false information in which will lead to penalties or repercussions.

 

6.0 Legal

The Organizer reserves the right to use names/photographs of participants as materials for the purposes of advertising, trade and publicity without any prior notice to the participants. Participants will not be entitled to claim ownership or other forms of compensation on such uses.

 

The participants hereby confirms that all his/her personal information stated in the contest form is true and complete. The participants hereby irrevocably consent and authorize Organizer to process any of his/her information and to release the same to any related existing or future business partners or strategic alliance and/or any other third party as Organizer may in its absolute discretion deem necessary or expedient for the purpose of marketing and promotion of products and services. The Participants hereby confirm that no further permission or consent from him/her is necessary or required in relation thereto and this shall constitute the consent required under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 or any other contractual consent for such disclosures of information.

 

The participants hereby confirm that all his/her personal data stated in the contest form is true and complete and that he/she has read these terms and the Privacy Policy. By clicking the electronic consent box or submitting any personal data, the participants irrevocably consent and agree to the processing of his/her personal data in accordance with these terms and the Privacy Policy. The participants authorize the Organizer to process any of his/her personal data and information and to disclose the same to any related existing or future business partners or strategic alliance and/or any other third party as the Organizer may in its absolute discretion deem necessary or expedient for the purpose of the Event or marketing and promotion of products and services. The Participants hereby confirm that no further permission or consent from him/her is necessary or required in relation thereto and this shall constitute the consent required under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 or any other contractual consent for such disclosures of information. All disputes relating to this Challenge shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Courts at Malaysia.

7.0 Miscellaneous

7.1 The Organizer reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any participant that is found or suspected of tampering with the Event or the game submission process, the operation of this Event. The Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any person who it reasonably suspects has violated or infringed any of these general terms and conditions and the Organizer reserves the right to pursue legal action against any individual it believes has undertaken fraudulent activities or other activities harmful to this online and offline event.

 

7.2 The Organizer will not be held liable for any injuries or death caused during the duration of the event.

8.0 Communications

All official announcements will be done via Email. All tournament coordinations, will be done via Whatsapp. Please provide a valid phone number with Whatsapp for communication with the team captain or team members upon registration. Please follow the instructions given

 

In the case that the admins are not able to contact the team before the “check-in” time. The team will be disqualified from the tournament.

9.0 ADMIN RIGHTS

Admins may overrule all the rules based on the situation. Admin decisions are final.
